DAY RESPITE


Access  Criteria —Target Groups

a) frail, older people aged 65 yrs or Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 yrs

b) regular carers of the above persons

New Clients should contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to register for services.

Our Social Support Program

Our social support program is designed to enhance a client’s independence, well being and socialisation.

A support plan is developed in consultation with each client and their carer.

The weekly activity calendars are packed with fun activities which have been designed to maintain and enhance cognitive skills, physical activity and socialisation.

The program is delivered at

  • Waratah Centre Coffs Harbour, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm
  • Woolgoolga Community Village Hall (Mud Hut), Wednesday and Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm

Any additional respite required outside these hours may be negotiated with the Manager but will incur an additional fee after 4.00pm, currently set at $30.00 per hour.

Important Notice 

The management at Waratah Respite Services will endeavour at times to accommodate service requests for eligible applicants.

However, Waratah reserves the right to refuse service in the following circumstances:

  • the client does not meet the access criteria ie target group specified by funder
  • the client care needs exceed the scope of practice or expertise of care staff
  • the client care needs are or become too complex or too high and beyond the capacity of the Centre
  • the client behaviours cannot be managed appropriately, may place others in danger and thus may pose an unacceptable level of risk to others
  • if the level of care needed poses a Work Health and Safety issue for WRS staff
