About Us

Waratah Respite Services is a not-for-profit organisation that provides flexible respite services in Coffs Harbour and the surrounding districts since 1987. We offer centre based social support and respite care in Coffs Harbour and Woolgoolga as well as flexible overnight respite in our Maureen Guthrie Cottage for older people, those living with dementia and their carers.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Casual or Part Time Care Service Employee.

A Care Service Employee (CSE) at Waratah Respite Services (WRS) will work as part of an integrated team of carers and under the direction of the Care Manager. The team will be responsible for providing services that are designed to motivate, re-able and enhance the independence and wellbeing of our clients.

The CSE will be responsible for attending to the personal care and social support needs of overnight clients, in accordance with established policy and procedures, and individual care and/or support plans.

Essential Criteria

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or other equivalent qualification
  • Completion of “assist clients with medication module” or the capacity to obtain the required qualification within four (4) weeks of the commencement of duty.
  • Current First Aid Certificate or the capacity to obtain the required qualification within four (4) weeks of the commencement of duty
  • Has a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Has received the 2022 Influenza vaccination and willingness to update on an annual basis
  • Has received a minimum 3 dose of the COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Ability to demonstrate kindness and care in interactions with clients and be respectful of each person’s identity, culture and diversity
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues and concerns of frail, aged and disabled people and their carers’ in today’s society
  • Demonstrated sound understanding of the hallmarks of good communication and able to provide examples of situations where you have used those skills
  • Demonstrated sound understanding of teamwork and able to provide examples of your experience in operating in a team environment
  • Proven satisfactory written skills, previous experience in writing case notes
  • Has the physical capacity to provide personal care and the ability to assist clients
  • Ability to respond well in emergency situations, including ability to provide First Aid (including CPR)
  • Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes and evidence of a current Class C drivers licence.
